In the wake of the police killing of Amir Locke, his father, Buddy Mclain teamed with recording artists, Sounds of Blackness along with Jemencia Bennett (daughter of soul singer, Ann Nesby) to produce, “So Thankful” to cope with the loss of his murdered son at the hands of the Minnesota Police department. Buddy, who worked with the late artist formerly known as Prince, says that the lyrics were inspired by the tragic loss of his son Amir, an inspiring artist who was gunned down at the age of 22 while building his own recording business.
